CCN 2026 Distributed Bar Crawl

Monday, August 3, 2026, 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

NYU has a long tradition of emphasizing that “the city is our campus”. In that spirit, we have planned distributed meetups around lower Manhattan for different topic-based groups on the opening night of our conference.

If you would like to join, please choose which topic you most closely affiliate yourself with and head to the corresponding bar.

Make sure to wear your lanyards to identify other CCN conference attendees!

Please note that space may be limited.

Back2NY Event

Back2NY Event

Tuesday, August 4, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Skirball Theater

The first Cognitive Computational Neuroscience conference was hosted at Columbia in 2017. In 2026, we are back in New York and hosting a special event to look back at the community that has grown, discuss the progress and challenges we have faced, and consider where we want to go in the future.

CCN has never been afraid of trying new things, so the main component of the Back2NY Event will be a crowd-sourced panel discussion. Instead of a typical panel where a small number of speakers dominate the conversation, we want to give the entire community a chance to voice their perspectives.

Whether you are a first-time attendee, someone who “grew up” with CCN, or a founding organizer, we want to hear from you. Please fill out our community survey, composed of a few “report card” style questions, long-form prompts to drive debate, and a place to share your personal CCN stories.

The survey includes an option to indicate that you would like to participate in the live debate discussion, based on your responses to the survey. PLUS, we have a set of exciting prizes that we will give to randomly selected winners.

Meeting Registration

All poster presenters are required to register and wear their meeting badge while presenting their poster. If you are unable to present your poster, please Contact Us as soon as possible.

Poster Sessions

All poster sessions are held in Kimmel Center: Shorin & Rosenthal Rooms.

Poster Presentations

Poster boards are  60" W x 70" H (152.4 cm x 177.8 cm), with a 1 inch border. We recommend that your poster be printed with maximum dimensions of 58" W × 68" H (147 cm × 172 cm) in portrait orientation. Figures and type should be easily seen from a distance of 6 feet. Use clear graphics and large type to accomplish this.

Each poster is assigned a number, called the Board Number, which will indicate where to post your poster. Poster boards are numbered in the upper-right corner of the board.

Posters may be put up starting at the Set-Up time. Please do not hang posters earlier as they may be removed. All posters must be taken down by the Take-Down Completed time on the same day.

Supplies and Equipment

Pushpins are provided at each poster board to mount your poster to the board. Additional pushpins are available near the poster room entrance. Tape, glue and other adhesives are not to be used on the poster boards.

Contact signup sheets are available in the poster room. Pin the contact signup sheet on your board if you would like people to leave their name and email for future contact.

Suggestions for Creating Effective Posters

  • Prepare a title banner indicating abstract title, author(s) and affiliation(s). Lettering should be at least one inch high.
  • Minimize narrative.
  • For figures, use dark colors on white or light backgrounds. Figures should be designed to be viewed from a distance (about three feet).
  • Use large type and short separated paragraphs.
  • Do not set entire paragraphs in boldface or capital letters.
  • Numbered or bulleted lists are a concise but effective way to convey a series of points.
  • It is not necessary to post a copy of your abstract.

Technical Assistance

If you have a problem of any kind, need assistance hanging your poster, or need supplies, look for the CCN staff person stationed near the entrance of the poster room. If you cannot find CCN staff in the poster room, go to the Registration Desk for assistance.

Additional Poster Printing Services

We encourage poster presenters to print out their posters ahead of time and bring them to the conference, as local printers may not have capacity to do a large number of posters on short notice.

Keep in mind that during busy times, it may take one or more working days for your poster to get printed. We recommend that you get your printing order placed before arriving in New York.

Here is a list of local printers suggested on google.com:

    • FASTSIGNS of Manhattan, NY - NYU: Located at 503 LaGuardia Pl (just steps from campus). Excellent for custom banners, mounting, laminating, and oversized event posters.
    • Graphic Lab Printing: Located at 36 E 23rd St (near Madison Square Park). A highly-rated, local favorite for same-day high-quality color large-format prints and presentations.
Academic & Online Delivery (For Research Posters)
If you need a research poster printed quickly and delivered or shipped directly to campus, use PosterPresentations.com. They offer discounted academic rates for NYU students/educators and often provide next-business-morning delivery if you order by 3:00 PM (Eastern). [1, 2]
General Retailers
  • The UPS Store: There are several locations nearby (e.g., 1159 2nd Ave or 697 3rd Ave). They offer standard glossy/matte poster prints, mounting on foam core, and packing services. [1, 2, 3]
  • FedEx Office: Nearest locations include 404 5th Ave or 30 E 42nd St. They offer uploading via the FedEx Office portal for standard same-day poster pickup. [1, 2]

Meeting Registration

All speakers are required to register and wear their meeting badge while giving their talk.

All Talk Sessions

Please arrive in the talk room 30 minutes before your session to set up and test.

To find your presentation time and location, please see the Schedule of Events, or find your talk by Searching submitted papers.

You will be presenting from your own laptop. A technician will be in the room to help you connect and test your presentation. If your presentation contains audio or video, please test this portion of your presentation.

Connection to the projector is via HDMI or USB-C (both connection types are available at the lectern). If your laptop does not have an HDMI or USB-C port, you must bring an adapter.

To connect to power at the lectern you will need a North America-style Type A (2 prong) or Type B (3 prong) plug. If your laptop has a different style of power plug, you must bring an adapter.

All presentations are given live; pre-recorded presentations are not allowed.

Contributed Talks

Each Contributed Talk presentation is allocated 10 minutes. To keep the conference running on time, this time limit will be enforced. We recommend that you plan to speak for about 8 minutes, leaving 2 minutes for questions from the audience.

Contributed Talks are held in the Skirball Theater. You can find your talk by Searching the submitted papers.

Recording and Live Streaming

Talks in the Skirball Theater be recorded and also live streamed to the Internet. Talks outside the Skirball Theater will be recorded, but not live streamed. A link to view the live streamed sessions can be found on the session's information page. Recordings will be available on the CCN YouTube Channel approximately two weeks after the meeting.

A video camera will be pointed at the lectern to capture video of the speaker and screen in a single frame. It’s important that speakers remain near the lectern while speaking so they remain within the frame of the video recording.

Comfort Monitor

Each lectern has a "comfort monitor" in front of the speaker on the stage. You can set your laptop to display "Presenter Notes" view and use the comfort monitor to view the same content as is on the main screen in the room. This makes it easier for speakers to present while facing the audience (not looking at the projection screen), which will result in a better video recording.

Because we are recording the display from your laptop merged with the inset of you speaking, we discourage the use of using a physical laser pointer to point to locations on the projection screen as this will not be visible in the recording. Instead, you should use your on-screen mouse pointer. You may also wish to use words or slide animations to clarify where the viewer should focus their attention on your slides.

Meeting Room Equipment

Each talk room is equipped with:

  • Projector with HDMI or USB-C connection.
  • Lectern with microphone and comfort monitor.
  • Wireless handheld microphone at the lectern for announcing speakers.
  • Wireless handheld microphone on floor stand in the audience for Q&A.
  • Two wireless handheld microphones on stage for Q&A or panel discussion.
  • Six chairs on stage for Q&A or panel discussion.

If you need furnishings or microphones that are not provided above, please Contact Us as soon as possible so we can get them ordered.

Technical Assistance

If you have a problem during your talk look for the AV technician stationed in the room. If you cannot find the AV technician, go to the Registration Desk for assistance.
