Talk Presenter Instructions

Meeting Registration
All speakers are required to register and wear their meeting badge while giving their talk.
All Talk Sessions
Please arrive in the talk room 30 minutes before your session to set up and test. See the Schedule of Events for your presentation time.
You will be presenting from your own laptop. A technician will be in the room to help you connect and test your presentation. If your presentation contains audio or video, please test this portion of your presentation.
Connection to the projector is via HDMI or USB_C (both connection types are available at the lectern). If your laptop does not have an HDMI or USB-C port, you must bring an adapter.
To connect to power at the lectern you will need a North America-style Type A (2 prong) or Type B (3 prong) plug. If your laptop has a different style of power plug, you must bring an adapter.
All presentations are given live; pre-recorded presentations are not allowed.
Contributed Talks
Each Contributed Talk presentation is allocated 10 minutes. To keep the conference running on time, this time limit will be enforced. We recommend that you plan to speak for about 8 minutes, leaving 2 minutes for questions from the audience.
Contributed Talks are held in the Skirball Theater. You can find your talk by Searching the submitted papers.
Recording and Live Streaming
Talks in the Skirball Theater be recorded and also live streamed to the Internet. Talks outside the Skirball Theater will be recorded, but not live streamed. A link to view the live streamed sessions can be found on the session's information page. Recordings will be available on the CCN YouTube Channel approximately two weeks after the meeting.
A video camera will be pointed at the lectern to capture video of the speaker and screen in a single frame. It’s important that speakers remain near the lectern while speaking so they remain within the frame of the video recording.
Comfort Monitor
Each lectern has a "comfort monitor" in front of the speaker on the stage. You can set your laptop to display "Presenter Notes" view and use the comfort monitor to view the same content as is on the main screen in the room. This makes it easier for speakers to present while facing the audience (not looking at the projection screen), which will result in a better video recording.
Because we are recording the display from your laptop merged with the inset of you speaking, we discourage the use of using a physical laser pointer to point to locations on the projection screen as this will not be visible in the recording. Instead, you should use your on-screen mouse pointer. You may also wish to use words or slide animations to clarify where the viewer should focus their attention on your slides.
Meeting Room Equipment
Each talk room is equipped with:
- Projector with HDMI or USB-C connection.
- Lectern with microphone and comfort monitor.
- Wireless handheld microphone at the lectern for announcing speakers.
- Wireless handheld microphone on floor stand in the audience for Q&A.
- Two wireless handheld microphones on stage for Q&A or panel discussion.
- Six chairs on stage for Q&A or panel discussion.
If you need furnishings or microphones that are not provided above, please Contact Us as soon as possible so we can get them ordered.
Technical Assistance
If you have a problem during your talk look for the AV technician stationed in the room. If you cannot find the AV technician, go to the Registration Desk for assistance.
